Providing access to Google Analytics allows your SEO team, developers, or marketing partners to monitor your website performance and implement data-driven strategies. In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the process of securely granting access to your Google Analytics account in just a few minutes.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Log into Your Google Analytics Account
- Visit Google Analytics and sign in with your Google account credentials.
- Make sure you’re in the correct account that you want to share access to.
Step 2: Navigate to Admin Settings
- In the bottom left-hand corner of the dashboard, click on the Admin gear icon.
- You’ll see three columns: Account, Property, and View.
Step 3: Choose the Right Access Level
- Under the appropriate column:
- Account: Grants access to all properties and views within the account.
- Property: Grants access only to a specific website property.
- View: Grants access to specific reports within a property.
- For most cases, select Account or Property to ensure the user can manage tracking and reporting.
Step 4: Add a New User
- Click on Account Settings > Account Access Management (or Property Access Management under the Property column).
- In the top-right corner, click the + button and select Add users.
Step 5: Enter the User’s Email Address
- Enter the email address of the person you want to grant access to (e.g., [email protected]).
- Select the appropriate permissions:
- Administrator: Full access, including managing users.
- Editor: Can edit settings but cannot manage users.
- Viewer: Can view reports but cannot make changes.
For SEO or technical teams, selecting Editor permissions is usually sufficient.
Step 6: Send the Invitation
- Ensure the Notify new users by email option is checked so they receive an invitation.
- Click Add to grant access.
The invited user will receive an email notification and can now access your Google Analytics account.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Can’t find Admin settings? Make sure you have sufficient permissions to manage users in your account.
- Incorrect email? You can remove and re-add users from the same Account Access Management screen.
